Broad Lane

The proposed scheme is the conversion of a commercial unit into 4 self contained residential flats. It is a distinctly contemporary design with a respect for the existing adjacent and surrounding Victorian character of the buildings. The proposed roof follows the form of the exiting roof with a profile that has been gradually stepped down to create a subordinated two storey addition to the original property. The communal entrance has been moved to the end west to create a transition between the end of the original property and the adjoining terrace. In addition the building has been turned inwards to create a focus on a new communal courtyard away from the main road.
